This is a wiki for outlining the requirements and proposed build outline for the next generation of Peirce home server storage and computational solution.
Preamble
The proposed transition to Version 2 of the Peirce Family Server is a major upgrade of both the existing hardware and software functionalities. The Proposal is to separate the data storage and Virtual Machine hosting functionalities with each eventually residing on its own hardware. The Hardware for the VM host will stay mainly unchained with the exception of the case. The data storage machine will require all new hardware as well as the inclusion of the existing data storage facilities. These machines, as well as other networking gear are proposed to be stored in a new rack environment. This will require a new case of the VM host. A UPS is also a proposed addition to the setup.
